Hashimoto's Disease And Your Thyroid

By:

Hashimoto's disease is a disease of the thyroid. It occurs because the body's autoimmune system mistakenly believes that the thyroid gland that is located in the neck is a foreign body. In order to truly understand what is happening to your body when you have this disease, you must arm yourself with the proper thyroid information. For example, it is important to know that the thyroid is a key player in determining how your entire body feels because it is part of the endocrine system which produces the hormones that are needed by your body to control its various functions.

Due to the widespread influence of the thyroid on your entire body, you will likely feel a wide range of symptoms when you have Hashimoto's disease. These symptoms include constipation, depression, weight gain, fatigue that is unexplained, stiff joints, heightened responses to cold, hair loss, brain fog, and rough, dry that is pale.

Although many of these symptoms can be caused by a myriad of diseases and conditions, some of which are more serious than others, it is still very important to be checked out thoroughly by your doctor. If you do have Hashimoto's disease, or another thyroid condition, and it is not treated, it could have serious and adverse effects on both your physical well being and your mental well being. Indeed, you will likely experience a significant reduction in the quality of your life.

When you go to your doctor, it is likely that you will need to have blood work completed in order to confirm that you have Hashimoto's disease or another thyroid condition. Your doctor will likely want to start you on some type of medication that can help to regulate your thyroid at that point. You will be monitored closely, however, since some serious side effects of these medications, such as bone loss, can occur.

If you are looking for a more natural approach to treating your Hashimoto's disease, you can try some of the various herbs that have been shown to improve the functionality of the thyroid. One of these herbs, coleus forskohili, has been shown to increase the production of the thyroid.

If you, or someone you know is experiencing symptoms that resemble what weve listed above, please get checked by a physician as soon as possible. You can be treated and you can feel better. You only need to start the process, and you should do that sooner, rather than later.
