Fat covering your abdominals
The workout of abs needs to be combined with a well balanced diet to get any real results, doing this will help you remove any fat covering your abdominals. The solution to getting flat abs then is to do Abdominal exercises on a regular basis combined with a good diet.

Abdominal exercise recommendation
I would recommend that you aim to work up to 20 reps of the following Abdominal exercise but feel free to do more if you feel up to it. Doing as many as you can with this abdominal exercise is ok and remembers that it's also part of okay to feel the burn.

This is an advanced move for which you need a chin up bar or something you can hang from. This is a good abdominal exercise if you are looking for a new abdominal exercise to try out.

1)Reach up and grab the bar with your hands a little further then shoulder width apart.

2)Cross your ankles and bring your knees up to your chest
Or as close as you can get
Pausing briefly at the top,
And then slowly lower your legs back to the starting position by relaxing your abs.
Your pelvis should rock slightly forward
Don't lower your legs all the way

3)Repeat the movement using just your abs to rains your knees
Make sure that you don't start swinging
Again you want your abs to do the work not momentum

Don't move your legs too far when doing hanging knee raises
Make sure your pelvis moves your lower back stays neutral
Or slightly rounded, not arched , and that your abs are doing the work not your hips

4)if you can easily do 20 hanging knees raise,
try this without bending your knees from a straight leg raise
these are really hard.
