Hair Transplants - Medicine Or Makeup?

By:

Hair transplant procedures are a light at the end of the tunnel for people that suffer from hair loss due to illness, and present a way that an element of normalcy can be regained. In fact, many of the cosmetic procedures that are currently on the market have come from the need for reconstructive surgeries, and have been adapted for the beauty and cosmetics industry instead.

Hair transplants have primarily been to restore the confidence of people that have suffered severe hair loss, but has been adapted to cater for clients that want to have address thinning for cosmetic reasons; as with all cosmetic surgeries, the aim is to improve appearance and therefore confidence. We are more than familiar with the stories of advocates of breast augmentations and face lifts testifying that an enhanced appearance promotes confidence and happiness.

The origins of such surgeries came from a desire to transform people who had been badly injured in accidents or scarred through surgery back to their original appearance. For car crash victims, burns victims and mastectomy patients, this was a life changing opportunity; it was, and still is an answer to disfigurement, and there are many people that are born that rely on the advances in cosmetic surgery to correct disfigurement for a better quality of life.

Hair transplants also offer the same opportunity, especially for patients that are suffering from extreme hair loss, but just as plastic surgery procedures changed to meet a more commercial and cosmetic market, the hair transplant industry is too. It is now possible to have transplantations to rectify over plucked eyebrows and even create beards and chest hair for those that feel that what they have is causing them a lack of confidence.

The procures that are now available for this type of surgery have improved so much that it is possible to tackle more delicate procedures such as eyebrow transplants. By implanting donor hairs one or two follicles at a time, surgeons can perform precise surgeries and achieve a more natural look than has ever been achieved before.

The updated procedures are carried out with such accuracy that there is little or no scarring, and rarely a rejection of the donor hairs. For most patients, within a few months it is impossible to tell that a procedure has taken place at all. It is important to note however, that in some cases there may be a rejection of the donor hairs, but there are other options that may be recommended by a hair transplant specialist.
