The Academy Awards are a great time to catch up on the latest glamour fashion, hair, jewelry and makeup. While some starts pull off classy and sophisticated others look like they are playing dress-up or prostitute. What is that secret ingredient that makes a dress work on one star and not the next?

A part of it has to do with being true to them selves. A star that is a little outlandish, funky and unique can pull off a dress matching her personality. If a quiet, more subdued celebrity tries to pull off the same dress, it simply does not work. The same is true in reverse. For movie stars that are a little edgy people are disappointed when they show up for award night looking like Julia Roberts or Anne Hathaway. You have to be true to yourself.

No matter who you are, there are still boundaries for hair and dresses. Scarlett Johansen trying to pull off the tasseled and tossed look instead wore the "just woke up look", not a great idea for dazzle night. Even the critic don't want to see too much of your breast. The stunning purple dress worn by Elie Saab was pushing the envelope. There is a difference between provocative and sleazy, sexy and dirty. The Oscars are typically a night for classy.
