How we lead our lifestyle, things we do or do not do and our personal hygiene will determine the chances we have in getting this extremely inconvenient and embarrassing affliction. Once you find out what caused your hemorrhoids it will hasten your healing process and prevent them from happening again in the future. So what habits can cause hemorrhoids?

Bad Physical Habits

Sitting down too much. When you sit down, the majority of your weight rests on your buttocks which escalates the pressure placed on your rectal veins. If you work at a desk, it would be a good idea to get up ever hour or so and stretch a little to relax that pressure.

Standing up too much. Surprising, isn't it? As you stand, your blood is pulled downwards by gravity to your lower regions which will cause a build up of pressure at your rectum area. If you work standing up a lot, take a short break hourly or so and sit down.

Bad Toilet Habits

Sitting on the throne too long. This is similar to sitting at the desk too long. But in this case not only is your body weight pressing down on your buttocks but the straining of bowel movement is increasing that pressure. Never read the newspaper or a book on the throne. Go in, do what you need to doand get out.

Overstraining. Don't ever do this. Overstraining will cause the muscle lining in your rectal region to be weaker. Eventually, hemorrhoids will develop. The method of not needing to overstrain is to consume lots of fiber and drink lots of water. This will soften your stool, making it easy when you need to release.

Delaying going to the toilet. Go to the toilet as soon as you need to. Your body absorbs nutrient and moisture as much as it needs. This is done throughout the inner organs. When you don't go to the toilet on time will give your body the more chances to absorb the balance moisture in your stool, making it harder.

Bad Dietary Habits

Drinking too little water. Dehydration will cause your body to absorb moisture every chance it can get. This will cause the stool it creates to be very hard and painful to exit. Consuming lots of water will soften your stool a lot.

Eating too little fiber. Make sure you get enough fiber. There is no such thing as too much. Fiber makes your stool soft and easy to release.
