Gynecomastia Surgery Cost

Gynecomastia Surgery Cost

By:

Gynecomastia accounts for 65% of all male breast disorders and can lead to a lot of embarrassment, lack of confidence and in more extreme cases, depression. Thankfully, gynecomastia surgery allows for male breast reduction to shape the chest in a more natural way.

But the surgery will cost you in both money and time. Your health care plan most likely wont cover the cost of this procedure, as it is considered a non-essential surgery.

Often there is no definite cause for gynecomastia, but it is common in men who have put on some weight. Often when this weight is lost, the man boobs remain. Unfair, I know. After weight loss your skin can take time to retract into its natural shape. But the chest can be stubborn and sometimes no amount of exercise will reduce the size of this area. Sometimes gynaecomastia may be attributed to an imbalance of hormones.

Price

The procedure can be done in different ways, the surgical excision of excess tissue, the use of liposuction, or a combination of both. Depending on how you and the surgeon decide to proceed, this will affect the cost of your gynecomastia treatment. There are numerous factors to determine the price of the surgery. The main ones are:

Surgeon fees Type of surgical procedure Clinic Fees Anaesthesia cost Compression garment

The only way to determine an accurate price is to go and visit with a cosmetic plastic surgeon that specialises in this procedure. As each patient is different, it's impossible for a clinic to quote you over the phone, so you will need to arrange a consultation to see the surgeon. Or rather, so he can see you. Typically, the price you can be expected to pay is between 2800 to 3900.

Procedure Time

The most up to date effective surgery for gynecomastia is Vaser liposuction. This procedure only takes about an hour. It is is usually carried out in an outpatients surgery. Usually you can go home afterwards, there is no overnight stay in hospital. This cost savings is usually passed on to you, keeping the gynecomastia surgery cost right down.

Recovery Time

For the first two weeks after surgery, you can expect swelling of the treated area. You will be given a compression garment to help with the swelling and to encourage your chest into the correct shape. Most people return to work after only a couple of days. Sometimes you can time your surgery so you have very little time off work. If your surgeon agrees, you can opt to have your surgery on a Friday afternoon, and you may be able to return to work on Monday! If you have had any sutures, these will be removed about 7 - 10 days after surgery.

Overall though, the full recovery process takes a few weeks. After a couple more months the small scars will fade. The exact gynecomastia surgery cost is far lower than traditional male breast reduction surgeries if you opt for Vaser Lipo, the most up to date of procedure available today.
