In the lovely village of Orford, close to Aldeburgh, is The Jolly Sailor, Orford. This is a wonderful 16th Century inn that has character and charm in abundance. Within is a well-stocked bar plus various areas for you and your guests to dine, including the Thames Room with 17th Century flooring. The food served at The Jolly Sailor is just as traditional as the building itself, and specialises in locally caught seafood dishes such as beer battered fish, sea bass, in-season mussels, crabs and lobster. The Sorrel Horse Inn, Shottisham (near Woodbridge), is a 14th Century inn, rich in history with many tales soaked into the fabric of its walls. You could opt for a cosy winter wedding reception, complete with an open fireplace, real ales and hearty, warming meals, or a summer reception in the garden behind the inn, with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside and a Games Area for the children - plus a selection of light and sparkling wines for the adults!
