Guide To Fire Safety Training

By:

Fire is a danger that most of us think we recognise but actually do not completely understand. Once a fire has started it can spread at a really alarming rate and endanger life and property. The potential of a fire starting in everyday life exists and is just as likely in the workplace. Here in this article we look at the importance of fire safety training in the workplace.

The hazard of fire causes a significant threat to business and everyday people can loose their life or be injured by fire in the workplace. The financial loss to a company can also be as devastating and every year millions of pounds are lost in this way, often leaving companies unable to recover from the effects.

So clearly it is immediately obvious to any business their fire safety training for their employees is very important. So not only are they prepared to know what to do in the event of a fire but also how to follow procedures to decrease the chances of one happening in the first place. Currently legislation does require that employers provide fire safety training for all of their staff.

Fire safety courses aim to show individuals the awareness of the threat of fire to people, community and businesses. By highlighting the responsibilities of individuals to report on fire hazards in the work place, how to react if a fire does occur then the risks should be greatly decreased, as long as everyone is educated.

To find good courses in your area it is worth contacting your local fire brigade and they will either do their own courses or will be able to recommend a good company. Some bigger companies provide specialist courses all over the country and will probably be run by ex-fire-fighters who will have the experience and knowledge your workforce will benefit from.

Many businesses will also require fire marshals for their fire safety training and will need additional training. Check to see if the company you want to do your training offers these additional courses and that all that they provide will cover legal obligations of the safety training. It is important that the trainers you use are qualified with IFE regulations. Additionally you may want to know if they can provide a bespoke service that will reflect the type of business you run and the hazards they are exposed to. Most courses can be completed in a working day and may someday prove invaluable to your company.
