With winter here again, the fashionable amongst us have our minds set on one thing, and one thing only; namely, which boots we are going to buy this year. Well, if you take your inspiration from the fashionista, then there is only one choice: biker boots.
Biker boots are very much like the military boots fashions of recent years, but there are a few distinct differences between these styles:
- Biker boots always sport metal buckles. If the shoes look bikerish, but they do not have buckles, then they are probably military boots.
- Biker boots lack embellishments. This style of boot remains true to its roots, you will not find any fur, no bows, no frilly bits, and certainly no diamante decorations. We do not know why the biker has maintained its masculine, whereas the military boot has evolved into a politically correct type of shoe, with references to both genders and everything in between, but this remains the case nonetheless.
The Biker boot is the must have accessory for anybody who loves the grungy, laid-back, approach to fashion. They will also work quite well when integrated into a geek-chic wardrobe; we can picture them well with a skinny pair of jeans, a blouse or shirt, and a blazer. Whatever your style though, these are boots to wear with attitude. If you dont think you have an attitude, dont worry, they will make the meekest of people feel more assertive simply by virtue of being on their feet.
Many people will tell you that its ok to wear Bikers with a dress, it can be, but we must warn you that you absolutely have to have a good sense of style and be secure in your fashion to pull it off with any success. This combination is better on women who have a more petite frame, as the boots will not clash with their femininity. With a larger frame, wearing bikers with a dress is a big no-no, it will make you look a little like you are in drag if you like that look go for it, if not, avoid the dress and biker shoes look like the plague.
If you want to wear
biker boots, team them with a pair of skinny jeans, preferably in dark and distressed denim. Make sure that you tuck the jeans into the boots, to show them off properly;otherwise, you may as well be wearing any other style of boot/shoe. Wear, this season, with an oversized jumper a thick-knit is preferable that tucks in at the waist. Accessorise with an oversized tote bag. The bag and the nipped in waist will add enough femininity to create a sexy outfit, but will not clash in the way that a dress would do. Remember that with any fashion, you need to match styles; the bikers are masculine, so you need to adopt a more masculine wardrobe.
