The rapid developments in technology sometimes scare me. A few years ago, the technologies we have now would have seemed like something out of a sci-fi movie or some futuristic outer space paperback novel. Only recently, iPhone has released its latest iPhone4S which is incorporated with a digital assistant powered by voice- recognition software. And augmented reality, 3D technology, and holograms are now very common. I wont be surprised if one day I woke up in a world filled with hover boards and talking walls. And its only a matter of time for advertising to tap into their digital media resources.

The growth of advertising in digital advertising is fueled by the increase of devices on which people access digital media and the huge amount of data that they are creating with it. There are still so many more ways that Digital Media can be used and its not just on iPads, phones, or tablet devices. Digital media can also be incorporated with outdoor advertising to maximize the reach and exposure potential of the ad and not to mention its interactivity as well.

There are also new ways of using digital media for location- based targeting. The amount of data and digital mediathat advertising can use to be more effective are still growing and increasing. It creates both challenges and opportunities for advertisers and Advertising Agencies alike. Through digital media, there are also a lot of ways to track Effective Advertising.

But there is, however, the issue of privacy. As the digital world continues to expand, advertisers will be able to infiltrate the personal devices of consumers and deliver tailored advertisements to them whenever and wherever they go. This can be a huge advantage for advertisers and Out of Home Media Owners no doubt but it is necessary to define the limits of how far advertisements can invade the consumers personal and private lifestyle. It is always important to consider that the newer the technology, the fewer the people who can interact with it. Digital media is attractive for both consumers and advertisers and it will certainly the biggest platform for advertising in the future. But advertisers would just have to be careful on how to handle this new platform. Its important to create tailored advertisements that are relevant to the consumers needs and desires so that they wont feel as though advertisers are invading their lives. I personally dont mind when an advertisement tells me where the nearest Apple store is when I need it but I would certainly hate it if advertisements that I am not in the least bit interested in would keep popping up out of nowhere and invading my personal space.
