Its been tipped that grey
real wood floors will be one of the most popular choices of
hardwood flooring this year. This is the conclusion which has been drawn as the result of various
solid wood flooring exhibitions, and after asking the expert opinion of numerous interior designers.
These grey wooden floors are not dissimilar to the neutral tones and shades of oak flooring which has been extremely popular in the last two years. However, grey oak wood flooring with a metallic edge is proving to be a particularly popular choice.
Its believed that the grey natural oak flooring flecked with silver metal, which is bonded into the wood grain imitates rippling water. Grey solid oak flooring proved to be particularly popular during a recent exhibition and its not just grey tones of wood flooring which are rising in popularity. Sales of grey and silver carpets are also on the up, as well as grey laminate flooring, and vinyl flooring too. This reflects the current demand for grey floors, as people are always on the lookout for the latest interior design trend, and want to follow the current fashions.
Its thought that grey floors are becoming increasingly in demand as grey is a cool, neutral shade which works with a variety of colour palettes. Unlike straw coloured wood flooring, grey tones do not add warmth to a room, and are somewhat easier on the eye as a result. Grey shades also do not compete for attention, so allow your focus to be drawn to another feature in the room, such as an ornamental fireplace or an interesting coffee table instead.
Colours which work particularly well with grey flooring are blues, which help to create a cool, calm and tranquil feel to any room. These colours are ideal for rooms where you want to relax and be at peace, such as bedrooms or living rooms. Alternatively, if you want to warm up a room with a grey floor vibrant tones of red are a good match. This colour scheme works well in kitchens and dining rooms, where there is often a hub of activity going on.
This neutral shade also looks at home in a variety of settings, whether your home- or any other property for that matter- is contemporary or more traditional, grey wood flooring is an excellent choice. And clearly the public are beginning to realise the advantages of installing grey solid wood floors.
