Should You Exercise While You Fast For Relief of IBS, Colitis and Crohn's Symptoms.

Fasting is a mechanism for jump starting the body's natural healing system and for ridding itself of built up toxins in the pursuit if relieving the symptoms of IBS, Colitis and Crohn's Disease. It is also a time for the body to rest and rebuild. To be honest, exercising while fasting my prove a little distracting for your body, by hindering or slowing down the cleansing process. The exercise can make the body work harder at an inopportune time. However, there are ways to make the two processes work better together, if you choose to multi-task, so to speak.
First, it is advisable to stay away from strenuous exercise in favor of a more moderate routine while you're fasting. The reason for this is fasting takes away nutrients and energy that you need for exercising. It's like trying to drive your car with no gas in the tank. Anything can become hard while fasting, including trying to do housework. It is best to cut back on all physical activity for the duration of the fast. Content yourself with a short walk and low impact exercise, or light gardening as well as light housework. One form of exercise that is good for you is yoga as it stimulates the inner organs and relieves stress. Deep breathing, meditation and stretching are good during periods of fasting.
These suggestions work whether you're on a short cleanse or a complete body cleanse. One good thing about continuing to exercise during this time is that your focus will increase and your mind will feel sharper and more alive. Sweating resulting from the workout will help to expel toxins.
Use the meditation and deep breathing to cleanse the mind of negative thinking which can lead to stress and anxiety. Keep a journal of your thoughts and feelings. Return to the most positive thoughts and feelings again and again to make you feel better about yourself.
When you finish chronicling your workout take a slow and soothing bath to rid your skin of toxins. Remember to keep your exercise to a minimum and if in doubt, ask your doctor for advice.
