Green Tea - Cancer Defending Nutrition Tea

Green Tea was discovered in China over 4,000 years ago now. This nutrition tea is made from the steamed dry leaves that come from the pretty plant that is Cameilia Sinensus. The Chinese have for years relished in the multitudes of health advantages that drinking Green Tea can bring. I will discuss just a few of those advantages below.

To begin with, Green Tea is rich in antioxidants, also known as Catechin Polyphenols. The most essential of these being Epilgallocatechin Gallate or EGCG in short. Probably the most powerful influence EGCG has is that it has the ability to literally destroy cancer cells. It can do this by inhibiting growth of abnormal cells. It binds to protein cells that are found on tumours, one such protein being Laminin Receptor, and dramatically slows their growth. It does this at ALL stages of cancer. It also has the ability of attaching itself to protein cell walls, blocking off bacteria from entering in through the cell walls. This completely disrupts their ability to destroy the cell.

Where Leukaemia is concerned, EGCG reacts with those cells and halts communication between cells, which prevents them from growing and multiplying further. As well as this, EGCG has been found to activate GST enzymes. These enzymes are found naturally in the body. However they differ from one person to the next with regards to the amount the body holds. This is due to outside factors like ozone, smoking and other toxic substances in the atmosphere. The job they do for us is that they defend against toxic and cancer causing compounds. The great thing about GST enzymes (Glutathione S- Transferase )is that they are activated by EGCG. With this GST enzyme activation they can then guard against cancerous cell growth and development.

Some Other Extraordinary Facts About EGCG:

1.EGCG can quench Free Radicals. This can help with sun protection. it does not form a barrier to UV rays, however it destroys the Free radicals that the UV rays bring with sun exposure.

2.A note on Acne Rosacea- EGCG inhibits the release of Histamine, lowering the skins sensitivity, which in turn reduces onset of skins inflammation.

3.The multiple antioxidants,including the wonderful EGCG, found in Green Tea are 100 times more powerful than Vitamin C and 25 times more beneficial than Vitamin E.

Drinking only one cup of this nutrition tea provides you 10-40 mg of catechin polyphenols. The effects of this amount of polyphenols are greater than that which you get from a serving of broccoli, green cabbage, red wine, grapes, carrots and strawberries. That is not to say that these foods are not beneficial to you, however the comparison is appealing. You may find that you could eat possibly 3 of those foods per day. But if you took note of how many cups of tea or coffee you drink in a day, the number would probably surpass that amount. Hence, if you substituted those cups of tea/coffee with Green Tea, you can imagine how much you will elevate your antioxidant intake.
