Green Auto Options

By:

Going green with your car is not just a fad anymore; it is a way of life. Rising fuel costs along with a growing concern over our environment and planet have resulted in a new demand for energy efficient automobiles. Today, electric, hybrid and gas model 'green' cars are all over the road. A powerful way to say you care about the future of our planet is to stop putting toxic exhausts fumes into the air we breathe.

Many reasons that stopped people from 'going green' are being eliminated. Increasingly, auto manufacturers are rising to the occasion to sell more cars, and consequently, enhance their company image. This is done by developing the most innovative in green technology. The consumer reaps the benefits because, as more options hit the market, the price goes down. Here are options to consider:

A hybrid vehicle has two or more power sources. In the auto industry, it most often refers to hybrid electric automobiles. These vehicles utilize an internal combustion engine with at least one electric motor. Currently, Toyota, Chevrolet, Ford and Honda are the market leaders for this type of innovation. Electric vehicles with the plug-in offer the benefit of being able to go a longer distance than other alternatives before stopping for a recharge. Electrical portals (mains) are used for recharging the battery. Charging can be done while the engine is running.

Buying car operated on electricity is another option. These vehicles have good acceleration and a decent top speed. On the down side, this car needs more battery to run the motor because there is no alternative option. Basically, it calls for a big battery. The overall size of the battery compared to the overall size of the car is a downside for owning this automobile.

Green gas-operated cars are a third option. Green gas is a mixture of ethanol and regular gas. Ethanol is a fuel form made by the distilling of agriculture crops. Corn is the most common source of ethanol. Advocates for ethanol argue that it is not only a cleaner alternative for minimizing air pollution but it is also cleaner for your engine.
