What did cavemen know back then that we do not know better than today? How to cope in the wilderness? That's exactly right. But even more important is the fact that they survived in an extremely healthy way. Back then, diet programs didn't exist and there were no shelves to fill with diet information books. It was know instinctively what the best diet for the cavemen was that worked.


Now let's take a quick look at our ancestors to see the elements of their diet that we can incorporate right away to lose excess body fat and improve our overall health.


Cavemen only ever ate what they could find in the wild or what they could kill. Now im not suggesting that you start hunting and killing your own foods (thank goodness we have grocery stores) but everyone would still benefit by following this method in a more modern way. If the food on your plate is something that the cavemen could have hunted or gathered, fantastic but, if not, then chances are you shouldn't be eating those foods. For an example, you have some vegetables, fresh fruit and maybe a lean hamburger on a plate, then this would be perfect but if you go adding something like bread or pasta then that would just confuse your fellow caveman friend. Foods like this did not exist in those times and are definately foods that we would be healthier without.


The cavemen drank only what they found. Are you aware of what people have been able to find for many centuries? Correct, good old fashioned H20, or water. Water is known as the magic potion for weight loss and improved health. Unfortunately, there are numerous people out there today who are severly dehydrated and have horrible side effects too that could be easily resolved by a few cups of water. Headaches, hunger, constipation and digestive discomfort are all side effects that can be simply fixed by a few cups of water.


The cavemen stayed active for most of the day. Even though this is not essentially part of the caveman's best diet, it does play a large role when it comes to fat loss and improving health. If you tried to tell a caveman to sit in an office chair for the most part of the day and then sit on a couch for the remainder of the night, he would think you are crazy. All you need to do is move. Movement isn't just meant to be formal exercise. Try taking the stairs to your office, walking the parking lot, or walking around the office itself every hour or so, just to keep you from sitting all day. Modern man would not be able to keep up with the daily activities of a caveman but would quickly fall over with exhastion if they tried to keep up with them today.


The daily activities and diet choices of the cavemen can be easily modelled into our own best lifestyle and diet plans. You can establish your own caveman habits simply by asking yourself one question "Is this food or drink something a caveman would have consumed thousands of years back?" If you answered no to this question, don't eat it but move on to eat something more natural.
