When Grand Theft Auto first came out, gamers loved it and it has not looked back since, gaining more recognition and winning fans' adoration as one of the best gaming franchises to hit the scene. As more titles has been released over the past years, it was not only an achievement for the said franchise but for the whole of the video gaming industry. There's no question that GTA is up there when it comes to the Sandbox genre, and those who've played it knows the reason why. GTA4 is the 9th game off of the series and will continue on with where GTA 3 left off. But if you thought you know how the story will unfold, wait till you get to play this game as the series has been known to provide some interesting twists and turns with each game.

While every GTA story has been carefully crafted to offer a much different kind of experience, you can always expect it to have the same intense and spectacular nature. But GTA 4 provides a different perspective into the game's storyline. With Niko, an ex-soldier who tries to escape from his troubled past, as the main focus of the story, players will join him in his quest to overcome anything that awaits him in the equally grimy Liberty City. Niko does not have trouble fitting in because of his rugged and rough appearance, and here is where all the fun of exploring Liberty City starts. But unlike previous GTA characters, Niko has specific objectives to achieve and giving more weight into the overall gameplay experience. If in previous GTA games you have engaged yourself in mindless rampages, with Niko you have to remain focused on the objective at hand and remain true to that.

As for the other characters (even random ones) that are in GTA 4, they have improved significance as far as storyline is concerned in this game. For the most part, they will greatly impact the decisions Niko has to make in the game that involve a few characters and it will have repercussions in the game. Forming relationships with other characters in the game is also crucial in helping you progress in this game, and you will definitely have to take a few considerations first before making impulsive moves.

More than the impressive gameplay, Liberty City is the perfect setting for an incredible game like GTA 4 and it just looks impressively stunning. It should be interesting to know that the city provides a very interactive setting allowing you to have access to whichever part of the city; which is definitely a good thing, considering its intricate details.

If you thought you've heard enough, we are just getting started with this GTA IV feature. It now sports elements that were either brand new, or much improved from past GTA games. Probably one of the best features in GTA IV is the combat system. There's definitely more excitement into the game with a few very efficient feature that gamers can use to their advantage. There is still the free-aim feature, but the new lock-on feature will surely improve your accuracy. By setting your aim on an opponent and locking on to them, not one bullet will now go to waste. You simply press a button and there goes your enemies, blasting off in Hi-Def. This game also sports off a new cover system. To make your character take cover from the nearest suitable object, just press R1. This will enable your character to effectively cover from your enemies' view and is a great way to deal with an overwhelming number of enemies. In both scenarios, you will be able to lessen the amount of damage you can get, or even avoid the possibility of death. These new features certainly help to upgrade the level of gaming experience that gamers were already expecting of a Grand Theft Auto game.

If this made you excited, hold that for a second because there's still the new in-car combat system. Given that you already have all these nifty features at your disposal, you can be rest assured that this new in-car combat system is just as effective as on-foot combat system. While driving a car, it is now possible for players to lock on the nearest target. You still have the option for a free-aim though, it's basically your choice. However, trying to focus on two things at once, such as driving a vehicle and shooting at the same time, it can be quite tough. All these efforts of improving the game play mechanics is done to live up and even surpass fans' expectation of what GTA IV can deliver.

It is important to touch on the mission structure for GTA IV because it is one of the pillars of this particular game. Because the previous GTA's have been proven, this game carries on the winning formula. With each mission, you will have all of Liberty City to explore and you can be assured that each mission will offer a unique, but equally challenging, experience. And we have to say, the GTA IV missions are definitely the most action-packed and exciting the game has ever seen.

As soon as Niko arrives in Liberty City, you will be able to use Roman's phone. This will be used as your control panel and can be a source of information on what needs to be done to get the game going. You can use the phone to receive messages about certain missions, and may also serve as your main access to multiplayer features and anything you have to accomplish the progress in the game. Using the phone as a means of control for players on the characters in the game is a smart way to guise the illusion of the players having complete control of the action taking place in the game.

And with that being mentioned, GTA IV also boasts of a new online multiplayer feature. You can have as much as sixteen players competing against each other, which definitely raises the level of intensity within the game. But more importantly, GTA IV is raring to knock off such great games like Call of Duty 4 or Rainbow Six Vegas off their reign and soon be named as the king of Multiplayer with a great new game modes addition.
