Since the launching of the first Grand Theft Auto title, it has continued to reap success with its succeeding games and is recognized as one of the most popular gaming franchises in the industry. As more titles has been released over the past years, it was not only an achievement for the said franchise but for the whole of the video gaming industry. GTA certainly takes the lead in terms of the Sandbox genre, and everyone who has played it knows the reason for this. The ninth installment off the series, GTA 4 ties together the loose ends of the story that was unveiled in GTA 3. However, the series has given gamers with an entirely new experience with each game, and fans can certainly expect the same with GTA IV.

A common denominator among every GTA story has been that it is, to a certain extent, highly absorbing and out of this world. However, with GTA 4, it aims to take the storyline to a whole new vantage point. With Niko, an ex-soldier who tries to escape from his troubled past, as the main focus of the story, players will join him in his quest to overcome anything that awaits him in the equally grimy Liberty City. With a rugged look to him, Niko feels a lot like home in Liberty City and leaves a lot to do around the city. GTA4 digresses from the highly volatile nature of past GTA characters; instead making it more objective-laden, which in turn makes this game a more absorbing play. In past GTA games, characters can partake in rampages or other violent acts at will, but because Niko has missions to fulfill, your adventures are defined within that mission.

With Niko being the main focus of the story, this does not mean though that the other characters present in GTA 4 have no significance in the overall gameplay and storyline. They are the catalysts that move the story forward, especially Niko's actions; hence, you could find yourself in situations where you have to make a decision that will alter how the game turns out in the long run. Not only that, the relationships you form in this game is a vital element in the overall gameplay, as well as the decisions you have to make, which will require careful thought from you.

More than the impressive gameplay, Liberty City is the perfect setting for an incredible game like GTA 4 and it just looks impressively stunning. With so much attention given to details, it is only fitting that it was created not only for the eyes but serves their purpose in the game.

If you thought you've heard enough, we are just getting started with this GTA IV feature. Learning from lapses or areas where previous GTA games went lacking, Rockstar has incorporated some new elements into this new game. Probably one of the best features in GTA IV is the combat system. Rockstar decided to improve on this in order to infuse more sophistication and excitement into the combat of this game, as well as to be at par with some of today's best shooters. There is still the free-aim feature, but the new lock-on feature will surely improve your accuracy. By setting your aim on an opponent and locking on to them, not one bullet will now go to waste. You simply press a button and there goes your enemies, blasting off in Hi-Def. The cover system is also new to this game. By simply pressing R1, you can make your character hug the nearest suitable object. It is recommended to use this feature when confronted with multiple enemies and you would be able to effectively shield yourself from any possible attack. By using this new feature, your character can now attain only minimal damage to his health. These new features certainly help to upgrade the level of gaming experience that gamers were already expecting of a Grand Theft Auto game.

If you though that was impressive, wait till you hear about GTA IV's new in-car combat system. With a great lineup of combat tools at your disposal, it is amazing how this new feature can be utilized to your advantage and yet it is nothing less as effective as your regular on-foot combat. While driving a car, it is now possible for players to lock on the nearest target. It is still possible to free-aim at your enemies through the car's window. If before, getting to shoot someone while you're driving proved to be quite a task, this time around everything is so much better. All these efforts of improving the game play mechanics is done to live up and even surpass fans' expectation of what GTA IV can deliver.

The mission structure of GTA IV is also another important aspect of this game that needs to be discussed. Because the previous GTA's have been proven, this game carries on the winning formula. With each mission, you will have all of Liberty City to explore and you can be assured that each mission will offer a unique, but equally challenging, experience. And with that being said, it's safe to assume that this is probably the best and most explosive release off the series yet.

As soon as Niko arrives in Liberty City, you will be able to use Roman's phone. This will serve as your control panel and will be a valuable tool for whatever that needs to be done in the game. You can use the phone to receive messages about certain missions, and may also serve as your main access to multiplayer features and anything you have to accomplish the progress in the game. Using the phone as a means of control for players on the characters in the game is a smart way to guise the illusion of the players having complete control of the action taking place in the game.

The online multiplayer feature is another exciting addition to an already packed gaming experience. This is another way to increase the level of intensity within the game, now that you can have at most sixteen players playing side by side or competing against one another. But GTA IV is determined to reign supreme among those considered epic games (like Call of Duty 4 and Rainbow Six Vegas) as the king of Multiplayer by infusing some more unique game modes.
