Government Health Care-will It Really Keep You Healthy?

By:

If you think that the new proposed health care changes are going to be a healthy dose of cure all for everyone, it would probably be in your best interest to rethink your position. While it is true some people will benefit greatly from these changes; but the masses, with the government in charge, won't be any better than the government programs that are in use already.

If you want a preview of what the new health care changes might look like in the future, look no farther than the mismanaged programs that are currently under government control. Take the Medicare program used by the elderly for instance. There is never enough money in this government program to get its level of care above substandard and it is always increasing its deficit each year. The elderly, unable to change doctors, due to small reimbursements, will have to come up with more out of pocket money to get these same benefits.

If that isn't enough to convince you then perhaps you will need to take a closer look at the Veterans and the insurance coverage that the government supplies them with. For the most part their health care consists of pain management with addictive drugs and as a result the majority of the homeless in this country are former soldiers. But don't be discouraged yet.

Active military personnel have adequate health care coverage, but not alternative care and any medical treatment must be cleared by their doctor. However, even the military care with access to a full range of government pre-approved services is limited; but is still a cut above the elderly and veteran health care.

Now perhaps you think that a government run, nationalized health care plan for the United States is a good thing, or perhaps you don't. In any case, when you look at their track record for keeping people healthy you can quickly see that everyone should be a bit concerned about letting the government manage our health care. The changes that they are making will effectively reduce our benefits in many areas while raising our health insurance premiums. And one must wonder what limits they will begin to impose on your health care coverage over time. It really is a major concern that should be on the minds of all Americans as nationalized health care could effective reduce our ability to receive the care we need and the choices that we deserve.
