If a site promises you a hoards of of traffic in a short amount of time the traffic you get wont be targeted, and won't be any good to you at all. There is no avoiding it. You must apply the good old fashion tried, tested and certified proven traffic producing techniques. Article marketing is a outstanding SEO practice, forum marketing, pay-per-click advertising, social networking and social bookmarking or any web 2.0 marketing.

It all works quite well. Be choosy a hole bunch of sites are scam sites, and the traffic you get is not real. The traffic you'll get will be automated. However there is one exception. Pay pre click or PPC as it is usually referred to. This is a paid program but is notuseless like the kind of sites I was referring to. Don't use or even waste time on automated software to submit your site to free all links sites or free classified sites. All you will get is a whole lot of spam. And spam is not traffic of course there is an exception, craig's list.

Craig's list works well and it's free. The one snag is you cannot post the same day in different categories or regions. Another mistake to avoid is participating in reciprocal linking. The links are ignored and don't help your SEO they actually do the opposite and effects your ranking in the search engines. steer clear of any and all black hat SEO techniques. A lot of people have software to block pop ups there's a reason there are . The same goes for loud music, blinking text and bad colors.

Now I'm going to go out on the limb about traffic exchanges people have differing opinions about how effective they are. You should test them for yourself, Google Adsense can work out very nicely. Don't exaggerate in your advertising. Don't make false statements. This will only annoy your traffic and they won't click your links. Instead they will hit the back button or close their browser. And most importantly it's false advertising even if you're not selling anything so don't do it.

The two common mistakes a person can make is one, nothing at all, you can have the best site in the world but if you don't let anybody know where you are no one else will come. Number two not knowing where your traffic is coming from. If you don't know what's driving in your traffic or where it is coming from you're wasting your time. So track everything (checkout Google analytics) in the long run you will be glad you did.

Bottom line is you need to be using certain site promotion techniques and leave the other techniques alone they're not worth your time or money. You need to know where your traffic is coming from and how well your ad is performing. How else well you know what is working well and what is not.
