Good Friday: Commemorate The Sorrow

Good Friday was the day on which Jesus died. On the basis of scriptural details of Sanhedrin trail of Jesus, Crucifixion of Jesus was probably done on Friday. Good Friday is a Friday before Easter Sunday. It is a religious day on which Christians commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death. It is believed that lord died on Good Friday and resurrected on Easter Sunday. Good Friday is called so because christen believe that Jesus sacrificed his life for humanity and good of everyone.

Most of the Christians do fasting by avoiding the intake of fish, meat, wine and egg. By fasting and following this abstemiousness they maintain the holiness of the festival. On Easter Sunday, there is a grand gathering of family members to enjoy. They keep the festive mood of celebration alive. With Ash Sunday start the Lenten fasting and the preparations for Easter Sunday start one week prior to its arrival with Palm Sunday.

Good Friday is a day of mourning, and all rituals of the day are centred around the feeling of pain and humiliation that lord Jesus suffered. On Good Friday there are no flowers and decorations in the churches. The bells remain silent on this day and it is a day to mourn for the penance and death of Jesus. Mourners wearing black cloths and holding an image of Jesus Christ move in procession and a ritual burial takes place.

Jesus underwent pain and suffering for 16 hours during his life before death. But he was son of god who took birth to take away the pain and sufferings of others. Pain that one can not imagine! He preached everyone not to give suffering to others but to comfort others. It teaches everyone to love and hate none. He was a selfless giver and teaches his people the same lesson of selfless giving. He teaches us to forgive even if intense pain is inflicted on you.
