Golfing In Croatia: A World Class Experience

By:

In this article, we look at where to play golf in Croatia, and how to make the most out of your Croatian golfing experience.

Brijuni National Park

One of the few 18 hole courses in Croatia, and the only one that's not privately owned, the Brijuni National Park golf course offers visitors a fantastic place to play golf, surrounded by some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world.

Where else, in the world, can you play 18 holes of golf while deer wander in the rough, just alongside the fairways? Not to mention that the course is located on an island paradise, and features just about every amenity you could hope for and that playing this course will include a boat trip, and some fantastic sight seeing opportunities!

If you are serious about golfing, and you are visiting Croatia, then a trip to Brijuni National Park is a definite must.

Other Courses

Golf is definitely still growing in Croatia, and it is likely that over the next few years, more and more courses will spring up in all areas of the country.

For now, however, golfers already have a wonderful choice of courses to play. Zagreb offers a country club golf experience, and Pula also has it's own golf course, where you can wander in from seeing roman ruins for a round with friends. Then there is Golf Adriatic at Savudrija, where you can practice your swing overlooking the Adriatic.

Getting the Most Out of Golf in Croatia

If you are planning to make golf a part of your trip to Croatia, there are some great ways to make the most of the experience.

Firstly, remember that all of the major golf courses are located in or near major tourist centres. So if you are planning to include golf on your holiday itinerary, it is a good idea to plan which other attractions you want to see in those areas. It is also great if you are travelling with a partner, or your family, who do not appreciate golf, as you can easily sneak off for some green time while they are exploring!

Many of the courses in Croatia are nine hole courses, with the exception of Brijuni, but that also makes them great for those who are just starting out in the sport, and even as a family outing. Make sure that you contact the club you are planning to visit to find out about fees, equipment rentals and other regulations and information.

Finally, remember that most of the golf courses in Croatia offer some phenomenal scenery, so if you are going to whack a few balls around, remember to take your camera with, as you will certainly encounter some amazing photographic opportunities!
