Goal Setting Wealth Secrets: Doing What You Love

By:

You probably already know that one of the most powerful wealth secrets of all high earners is that they set goals. But goal-setting, in and of itself, is no guarantee to success. If you want to succeed, you've got to pick the right goals. But how do you know the right ones to pick? It's easy: you only set goals for yourself that you love.

Now this may go against some conventional wisdom that what needs to be done, needs to be done--no matter what. But if your business goals involve things you hate to do, you need to either outsource or else get into a new business.

You're not likely to do anything you hate, anyway. Not only are goals that you want to accomplish not likely to get done, they'll also keep you from accomplishing the things that you do love, as well. You'll worry yourself about the goal that's not getting accomplished instead of spending time accomplishing the things that you love.

If you do accomplish the goals that you hate, you'll use up so much time and energy that the effort really won't be worth it. One of the major wealth secrets for any success is to spend time and energy where they are most effective. And the most effective ways to spend your time and energy are almost always going to be doing tasks that you love.

Many people who haven't been having the success they want in life, haven't yet realized this wealth secret. They're still setting goals for themselves that they really don't want to meet, but that they think are necessary.

Quite often, it's simply not necessary for them to accomplish these goals themselves. If you go very far in life, there are going to be tasks essential to your success that you just don't want to do. Most of us hate doing taxes--and if you own your own business, you're probably better off hiring CPA in the first place.

In fact, in almost every business, you're going to want to outsource someone to do the tasks that you hate. This could be as simple as hiring someone to do our taxes every year, or to go over your books every month, or to handle your finances on a weekly or even daily basis. The level of outsourcing depends on your needs, your ability to pay, and--how much you hate the tasks!

But what if you hate the majority of the tasks you have to accomplish? Sure, you can outsource most of them. But if most of the goals essential to your business are goals that you hate doing and have to outsource, then it just might be time to get into a new business.

There's no shame in this. In fact, many entrepreneurs and other successes don't hit their real strides until middle age. The important thing is that you don't take the "I'm too old to change now," line. Because regardless of how old you are isn't it better to spend your life doing what you love, regardless of how long you have to do it?

In fact it is. Doing what you love and setting goals that you love are some of the biggest, and yet simplest wealth secrets that you can adopt for your life.
