Flying across the vast desert in a hot air balloon is a thrilling experience. Getting a bird"s eye view of wonderful Luxor landscape seems like a dream, floating on the clouds and sweeping along with the sunrays. Many colorful hot air balloons floating in the sky at 1000 feet in the air, seems like artistic feast to the eye of onlookers. The vast Sahara Desert seems like a carpet spread across at the Theban Necropolis and the West Bank of the Nile.

Luxor Hot air balloon flights show guests Egypt's vast Sahara Desert. Hot air ballooning is one of the reason many tourist come to Egypt and stay in one of the nearest hotels or at the Nile River Cruise boats. Either ways it is only 15 minutes drive to the launching pad of about two dozen hot-air balloons that take off to photogenic Desert sky.

The wake up call comes early as 6:15 in winters at sunrise but it"s worth it. If we arrive earlier we can see the balloons being fired up and filled by gusts of fiery hot air that rise into the balloon and light it from the inside so that it shines like a gigantic colored light bulb in the soft morning sky.

Almost 24 people can travel at once in the balloon, with pilot and crew added. We have to climb up in the basket and get divided into four small compartments. Pilot is at the center waiting for the first rays of the sun to light up the Sahara Desert and then we proceed on the mission of flying in the hot air balloon catching the most breath taking sights we ever saw.

View from the Hot-Air Balloon

Sailing with the wind and actually being controlled by the wind the hot-air balloon moves over the Valley of the Kings, where world famous tombs of Egypt are located. Moving further we see temples on the sand mountains and ridge of the Sahara. We see the humble farmers and busy villagers starting their day. Along with us other hot-air balloons floating around makes for a spectacular picture of colorful hues in the sky.

The 45 minutes ride ends with little bumps or sometimes as smoothly as it started. It all depends on the wind condition, and is solely determined by the flow of the wind.
