By:

Techno is an underrated genre. It is not given credit where credit is due. Techno requires artists to have the mental capacity, stamina, and creativity that any other artist possesses. Maybe the issue is most people have a fear of dancing. Techno isnt always for dancing though!

Techno possess an excellent quality of excitability. It is simply fun to listen to before going out on a weekend or maybe in celebration after your favorite team just won a very important game. However, techno is an acquired taste and maybe for some, they are not sure how to begin to truly dig into this music. So how does one appreciate techno?

1)Whats out there?
This step is fairly simple - are you a fan of other music genres? Well, obviously! Who doesnt like music? Like any person who is interested in a genre, you do research. Lets say for someone who is interested in metal. They may do research and find heavy metal to compile a list of songs that fit into this category. As they deepen their exploration, they find different genres within the genre they enjoy and compile more lists and so on. The same process is the same for building your interest in techno - research my friends!

2)Find out who you enjoy
For those of you who are avid techno fans, you know that there are a million different albums out there that feature a mixture of different DJs and artist. This doesnt really give someone the opportunity to really get a feel for an artists style or musical variety. Start out with artists such as The Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, and Armand Van Helden.

3)Get to know the beat
Pay attention to what you are listening to. Listen to the bass and the drums. Are there ethereal sounds in the song? Dont just listen, but feel what you are listening to. That is the most important part of getting to know techno and is often what turns a person into a fan.

4) Analyze
After you have listened to the song and have felt the music and whoa, maybe even danced, take a moment to think about it. Think about what you enjoyed the most from that song. Was it the beat? The bass? What is the speed of the song or the different sound effects within it? Taking the time to analyze the song will help you get an idea for your style of techno music.

5) Happy searching, friends!
Once you have identified your style, research. Sometimes you find out about different artists that are similar to the artist you are interested in just by searching. It is a great way to learn about your new genre interest. Happy searching friends!
