Girls And Boys Regulation Dancewear For Rad

The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) is an international dance school that was started in London in the twenties and has the Queen of England as its patron. It has members in more than 70 countries worldwide. It is arguably the most renowned dance school in the entire world and anybody wanting a career in ballet dreams of attending the RAD.

The main dance taught at the school is ballet, but there other dance forms taught there; they also teach karate. The school offers internationally recognized examinations for two different syllabi. The two syllabi are Vocational Graded Examination Syllabus and Graded Examination Syllabus. The syllabus is divided in to grades 1 to 8 (pre-primary in dance and primary in dance) for the Graded Examination syllabus and six levels (intermediate foundation to advanced 2) for Vocational Graded Examination syllabus. To partake in examinations, students must wear a standard regulated uniform. This is also required during classes and presentations. The main reason for wearing uniform is that it represents unity. Uniform also makes it easier for the dance instructor to pick out improper techniques in any of the students during the dance lesson or examination.

So what is the RAD Regulation Dancewear ? The regulation dancewear is different for the different levels or grades and syllabus. There is also different dancewear for examinations. They may not be too strict about regulation wear for class; this will mostly depend on the dance instructor. However, there is no wriggle room for examinations. Regulation dancewear is a must for examinations. The girls and boys regulation dancewear will be different, for obvious reasons. For girls, there is a lot more choice than for boys. For pre-primary and primary grade regulation wear will include a blue, pale pink or lavender leotard, a georgette or voile skirt, a long sleeved ballet cardigan, a headband, white socks and ballet shoes. The shoes are either made of leather or satin. Older girls can have a choice between the short sleeved leotard and a long sleeved leotard. The leotard can be in pink, white, mulberry, pale blue and navy blue. They can either wear pink tights or pink socks. Shoes can either be black leather or pink satin. The skirt remains the same.

For boys, regulation leotard is a white short sleeved one or a black or white sleeveless one, white socks and black leather shoes. They also wear Reese cycle shorts, or Rory shorts and Ryan calf length tights or Ryan shorts for exams.
