Ginger Helps The Common Cold

Ginger Helps The Common Cold

By:

Ginger is a spicy herb that can be grown in all parts of the world. However, if you live in the cooler regions of the world where the summers are short, you may not be able to grow the ginger outdoors. But you can easily grow it in a greenhouse, or even in a pot in your kitchen.

Ginger has many healthy uses, and can help you to overcome many common ailments such as the common cold.

Antihistamine and Decongestant

Ginger has a warming effect on the body which acts as a natural antihistamine and decongestant to clear up your chest and head and stop a runny nose. The best way to use ginger to relieve the symptoms of the common cold is to prepare a ginger tea and not only drink it, but inhale the warmness and aroma of the tea as well. This method will help you to relieve your symptoms almost immediately.

Promotes Sweating

Ginger naturally helps your body to break into a sweat so that toxins can be removed from your body. Believe it or not, but sweating is good for the body, and you can discover this for yourself the next time you begin to feel the cold coming on.

At the first sign of any cold or flu-like symptoms, draw yourself a hot bath. Grate about 1/4 to 1/2 cup fresh ginger and add it to your bath water. Remain in the water for as long as you can to promote sweating. Aim for at least 30 to 60 minutes.

If you are highly toxic, then you will not be able to stay in the water for very long, as your body is detoxing too fast. Your head will begin to throb, and you will begin to feel light headed. However, you need to endure this if you want to feel better later on. One thing that you can do, is to sit up in the water periodically and just rest your head on the edge of the bath tub.

After the bath, lie down and rest. Allow your body to cool and recuperate from detoxifying. After about an hour or so you will begin to feel better, and chances are, your cold and flu-like symptoms will have disappeared.

Builds The Immune System

Due to its antioxidants and other nutrients that are contained in ginger, it can also help you to build up your immune system so that cold and flu-like symptoms will not return again.
