With father's day just around the corner, it's time to start thinking of some gift ideas suitable for dad. Typically, dads never want muss or fuss, they don't need a big brunch or even a gift- a simple card and maybe dinner at home with the family will do. But that's even more reason to surprise them with something really thoughtful and special. Some ideas include:

A round of golf:

If your dad is a lover of golf, then maybe you'd like to treat him to a round. Not only are you offering him a valuable gift, but also a day off to spend outside enjoying some sunshine and fresh air. Better yet, if you can play you might even want to join him for the round.

Even if your dad isn't a smoker, there's a good chance that he'll still enjoy a nice cigar. If you splurge just a little on a box of cigars you can get something quite nice and something that'll last him a while. If that doesn't seem like enough, throw in a bottle of some aged scotch.

A hot air balloon ride is probably the last thing your dad is expecting for father's day and makes a great gift. It's something you can do all together as a family, fun and adventurous. In addition to the beautiful views it is a gift he's sure to remember forever.

Gadgets, gadgets, gadgets:

If your dad is a techy kind of guy then getting him the latest gadget is the perfect idea. Whether it be the new iPad, a cool set of headphones, or a new toy for his computer, he's sure to love it. If he's more of a kid at heart maybe you could invest in Wii or Rock Band, or some other digital game the whole family can enjoy.

A pair of cufflinks:

Ties, shirts, socks and cufflinks are always a safe bet when it comes to father's day gifts. A man can never have too many of the above. Make the cufflinks extra special by having his initials engraved in them.

Music:

Dads love their music. If there's a new artist that your dad is always on about, go out and buy him their CD (it's likely he still listens to CDs). Or better yet, compile a mix of all of the songs they grew up on- there's nothing quite like generating a little nostalgia via music.
