A ghost hunt is truly amazing and never moreso when real activity is taking place. However As a ghost hunt organiser for public events you have to seriously consider the difficulties of this before you start. If you are selling places on the event you have no idea of the type of person that is buying them. You can stipulate the minimum age of your guests and the condition of the guests with regards to alcohol and drugs but that is as far as it goes. An organiser would have no way of absolutely knowing whether the guest has had much to drink or taken drugs unless they start to display overly disturbing behaviour by which time it is often too late. Any organiser should have it written in their terms and conditions that they can be removed under suspicion of alcohol or drug use. Another thing that is important to consider is the nature of the event. The amount of guests that you take to a location is very important. If you take too many then it is even more difficult to maintain any workable controls within the event. You have to take noise into consideration and the needs of individual guests. Many of the guests will not have done a ghost hunt before and their expectations and experience need to be taken into consideration along with reassurance when activity does happen.
A way to ensure that any ghost hunt organiser can safely maintain some elements of strong control within a ghost hunt event is to have one member of staff to a ratio of 6 guests. This will help to keep the group small enough and manageable enough when attempting to elicit spirit activity. There is also a good element of care for each guest should they become distressed or afraid throughout the ghost hunt. Another way to ensure stronger controls is to keep the numbers down to a minimum. This has a good effect in many ways. It helps to maintain manageability within the ghost hunt event and it also helps you to form a stronger more personal relationship with your guests.
Ghost hunting is all about patience and knowing exactly where everybody is and what they are doing throughout vigils. If you are unable to do this then I would consider that you would not be able to conclude that your ghost hunt event was successful. For more information about our
