Getting rid of love handles is not as easy as infomercials might make it seem. You have probably seen plenty of ads for simple machines or diet pills that can suck the fat right out of your stomach. You don't get a good result from no work, though, despite what money-hungry companies might say. Here are 4 steps for successfully getting rid of your love handles that actually do work.

Have The Right Attitude!

You are not going to lose love handles when you already think that you will fail. You have to go into the process with an open mind and a willingness to both learn and work hard. It also helps to have a firm set of short-term and long-term goals and to have a plan for achieving them.

Also, make sure that your goals and plans make sense. Dropping an inch around your waist in a few weeks is a fine easy goal. Dropping 20 pounds in one week is not. If you set yourself up with unattainable goals then you won't make any progress.

Read Food Labels!

Lots of commercial foods contain additives, chemicals and other substances that you don't need or want. For example, look out for hydrogenated oils, which contain trans fats. Also, be careful when you buy dairy products and meats because they may contain large amounts of saturated fats, as well as chemicals and other unwanted components.

The reality is its better not to rely on food from grocery store anyway if you want to get rid of your love handles. It's better to grow your own garden or buy from local farmers to support the local economy. Besides, fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs tend to taste a lot better than those bought in a store.

Exercise!

This is the step that most people hate, but it is a necessary one. You need to exercise to burn off your love handles. In fact, you need to do a couple of different types of exercises each week. Start by doing some abdominal exercises and some strength training exercises a few days a week.

You also need to get in a lot of cardiovascular exercise throughout the week. Some of it you can incorporate right into your daily routine, like biking to work instead of driving your car. However, it's also a good idea to set some dedicated time aside for cardio exercise a few days each week.

Stick to The Plan!

Sticking to the plan is the last of the 4 steps for successfully getting rid of your love handles. You need to stay focused and not get discouraged. It takes time to burn fat properly.
