Cinnamon is also not harmful kids or pets. If your pet happens by, the worst that can happen is they have to sneeze out a snoot full. And besides, who doesn't like the smell of fresh cinnamon. It just smells great. So read on to discover a sure-fire way to get rid of ants naturally with: Cinnamon.

Getting your cinnamon. There is no particular brand or kind of cinnamon that you will need to purchase. Whatever you have in your cupboard will do. The only caveat is that whatever you have in your cupboard or your buy in the store must be fresh. When you are looking to get rid of ants, your cinnamon must have the maximum scent and there is no substitute to fresh. So check the freshness date on cinnamon in the cupboard and make sure the seal is still in tact on the spice when you buy it in the store. Also, if you are buying your cinnamon in bulk and have a chance to smell it, it should have a slightly sweet odor. This will ensure the freshness of your cinnamon.

Getting Started. Walk around your house, condo, or apartment and look for entry points. Take note of any concentrated areas of ant activity or highways. When you find a stray ant in your dwelling, don't squish them; rather, follow the little bugger back to their entry-point. Once you have identified the ant's entry points, sprinkle a good dash of cinnamon at each spot. If any cinnamon lands on them, instantly, you will see them begin to panic as they flee from the powder. They absolutely hate the smell. Once you have had a good laugh, sprinkle the cinnamon on every ant in sight; they will take the residue back to their nests and warn the rest of the colony about the danger.

Getting on top of it. Spread a decent coat of cinnamon on thresholds of your entry doors and around cracks along your foundation. After you have made a thorough defense line outside, go inside. Inside, sprinkle cinnamon around your windows and below the electrical sockets on your walls. Take note if any ants are entering through cracks or gaps in your walls; make sure to sprinkle liberally around the cracks and crevices.

Once you have made this concerted effort, you should see decreased ant activity immediately. Keep in mind, ants are very persistent; so if you at first you don't succeed, track down where they are coming in and attack with your deadly spice. You should see no ants within your house in about a week. Here's to an ant free and better smelling house!
