Loft beds have always reminded me of my college days. During that time I was crammed in a small room, living with a few other students. But loft beds are not only for students in dorms, you can et one to maximize the space inside your home. If you have a child, a loft bed is the best option if you want to create a study nook for your child inside his room. Your child can sleep on the loft bed and there will still be enough space underneath for his books, study table and underwear drawer. A full size loft bed is also great to have around if you need to furnish a small cabin.

Full size loft beds are wider than twin size beds by roughly 15 inches, but the extra inches might spell the difference between discomfort and relaxation for some people. Personally, I would go for the full size loft bed right off the bat because I need the extra inches for more pillow space. Full beds are also commonly called double beds.

Frames for loft beds are either wooden or made of metal. The ideal frame is one that fits your budget and your room. Be particular about the material of your frame, especially if you're going for a wooden loft bed. Cherry and oak hardwood make for excellent loft bed frames.

You can also order a custom made loft bed if the person sleeping in it is too bulky for the commonly sold ones. For example, you will need to add more frame support if your child is heavier than average.

Finally, look for extra features when buying a loft bed, like built-in drawers, shelves and desks. Some of the most expensive loft beds have these features while the less expensive ones comprise a bed on a supporting frame. Good luck with your loft bed hunting and don't forget to ask the service man if assembly is a part of the package.
