Getting Estimates From A House Painter

By:

A house painter will most likely give various estimates, as they will all be based upon what time of the year it is along with what their schedule is like at the time. So if you go ahead and ask for a quote when it is still cold outside and they are trying to get jobs booked for the warmer time of year, you may save yourself some money. You will find that the cost for getting your house painted is going to be highest during the summer. If you do some of your own research, you may find that the house painters will give a different estimate on the exact same house depending upon the particular situation at the time. You can have an easier time reviewing their estimates if you know exactly what is going to go into the determination of your overall estimated cost.

There are a number of different ways in which a house can be painted. There are some house painters that will prefer the method of spraying on the paint, while some like to use brushes and rollers to get the job done. No one technique is really better than the other, and they each have their good and bad points. Even though the spray method ends up creating much faster results, it is also more likely to make a big mess, so you will need to make sure that you have properly covered your windows and trim to protect them from the spray.

You can get some pretty fast results from the rollers, and they aren't that messy either. The one thing about the rollers is that they are not appropriate for use on all surfaces. The slowest approach is going to be the brush method, but those who have ample experience with painting houses like to use them because they know that they will get excellent results with them.

Before you go ahead and contact a house painter for a quote, try to get a firm grasp on what type of condition your walls are in. Look for any kind of bubbling paint, or any spots where the paint is peeling or cracking. Check for any type of mold or mildew that might be forming on or around these surfaces. Chances are you won't be able to get a professional painter to paint on this surface.

Your estimate will also depend upon the type of paint that you are going to be using. This includes both the color that you have chosen and the quality of the paint. Of course it is going to cost more for higher quality paint, and you are going to be paying more for each coat of paint that the job requires. So if you are going to have a lighter color painted over a darker color, this is going to require more coats and therefore cost more money. You should probably contact more than one house painter so that you can compare the different estimates before you make a decision as to who you would like to go with.
