Get Your Wedding Insurance Sorted Before The Best Man's Speech

Have you arranged your wedding insurance cover yet? One of the things many betrothed couples do is leave out the insurance until either the last possible moment, or not at all, yet in practice insurance for your wedding is critical. There are enough worries relating to a wedding, and almost certainly the things that go wrong will not be those you wake up in the middle of the night worrying about, but the things you could never possibly have foreseen.

Because we're not blessed, or cursed, with foresight, we have to guard against the unforeseen happening. Whilst one might argue that the unforeseen always happens since we can't predict the future, what we're talking about here are those unforeseen events which seem to conspire against you or your loved one happily tying the knot without getting tied up in knots along the way.

We've almost all heard the scare stories about the groom who was rushed into hospital the day before the wedding with appendicitis, or the couple planning to fly to Barbados to get married using an airline which is grounded due to adverse weather conditions, or the bride who finds that the horse and carriage booked to take her to the wedding like a princess is unable to make it because the horse had to be shot last week and the carriage needs new bearings anyway.

These and a thousand more problems seem destined for those who do not plan in advance for the unforeseen problems which may well lurk round each and every corner. Whilst you wait with baited breath for the rest of your life to begin, your romantic story to start a new chapter, a cruel writer could well be penning a monumental disaster during those moments of blissful ignorance. Perhaps the Best Man will lose the ring, you'll discover that you can't have the 500 of flowers strewn around the venue because of health and safety risks associated with sneezing, or the DJ you booked at significant cost has just been offered a gig at ten times the price in Ibiza.

Of course, once can look light-heartedly at weddings, and consider the things that could go wrong, but the truth is that not only is wedding insurance critical for your happiness should such events go wrong, but in some cases there can be very serious, and costly problems to take care of.

In all seriousness, when you bear in mind that the average couple spend over 20,000 on a wedding these days, that is far too much for any newly wedded couple to risk without having some form of insurance policy to protect them should things go wrong. It isn't natural to dwell on the miserable things that could go wrong, and no happy couple wants to spend time thinking of such things, Fortunately, you don't have to, because for around 30 you can employ a team of experienced insurers who will do that for you.

Insurance companies which offer wedding insurance have pretty much seen it all, and have more idea of what can go wrong for a wedding than you do. Hopefully they won't worry you by giving you a list of things you never dreamed could happen but which you will now be fully convinced are certain to happen - they'll just be there to pick up the pieces should the worst happen. But hopefully, the only thing which will be smashed will be the Best Man and again, hopefully only after he's served his useful purpose.

Sadly though, wedding rings do go missing, wedding gifts do get broken or stolen, service providers do fail to deliver on promises, and venues do sometimes get closed due to fires, health and safety problems, or even bankruptcy. With so much investment, it will be important to make sure that you're covered, allowing you to make alternative arrangements without having to worry about the expense or find the money. Considering how cheap insurance for your wedding is, it's peace of mind for less than a night out.

There will be some things to consider though, since not all policies are the same. Some don't cover wedding gifts, or weddings which have the reception on a different day to the ceremony. Some won't cover overseas weddings, and some won't cover personal liability. The important thing is neither to ignore the need for wedding insurance, nor to rush in and snap the first offer you see. Take time to compare insurance policies and quotes, talking into account your own wedding arrangements, costs and needs.
