If you have never tasted Australian wine, then know this; it is worth grabbing an Australian air ticket and hopping on a plane for! The fact is that Australian wine only really became a hit in the international markets in recent times has somehow been lost in the fumes and exotic tastes of those great wines. All that is remembered is the great tasting wine itself although in reality, Australia has a long wine tradition, one that dates back centuries and for which some regions in Australia have come to be known. Many tourists that buy Australian air tickets and throng the country every year manage to take advantage of the popularity of the Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport. This and the cheapest airfare afford them the opportunity to sample the excellent wines and visit the wine region of this vast country. The good news is that in spite of the vastness of Australia (dont forget that it is also a continent), its wine regions are also accessible and distinctly interesting destinations to visit. Victoria: This area somewhere south of the New South Wales region and home to some very exotic tasting wines. South Australia: Within this vast area are some of Australias most popular wineries and wines. Barossa Valley: If you love wine and particularly Australian wine, you must be familiar with Shiraz. Well, exotic and popular as Shiraz is, youll want to know of wines in this area. Mountadam, Elderton, St. Hallet and Henshke are some others that are outstanding.

New South Wales: Quite easily one if the most outstanding wine regions in Australia and home to the legendary Hunter Valley, this region has become an icon in Australia and even outside as far as Semillon wines are concerned. Obviously, not been satisfied with that, the region is fast gaining popularity for its excellent Chardonnay and Shiraz wines. Try Mount Pleasant and Brokenwood for sizeor taste. Youll love them!

Tasmania: This area has seen more of its development in recent times and is currently doing well with the quality of its wine. The specialty here is actually white wines and amongst them, Pipers Brook and Pirie Sparklers.

Margaret Valley: Here, elegance is the watchword and like Tasmania, its popularity is comparatively recent. It has been able to produce some excellent wine including Moss Wood, Cullen, Howard Park, Vasse Felix. These are all great tasting wine that have reputation fast climbing the rungs of the ladder.
