Get Rid Of Pimples

Acne is not something that can ever be totally cured. However, with a little bit of time and effort, it is possible to get rid of acne. You may still experience the occasional pimple or breakout, but hopefully it will no longer be a constant problem for you.

Acne is a skin condition caused by excessive sebum being produced by the sebaceous glands. Mixing with dead skin cells, this excess of sebum causes skin pores to become blocked and provide an excellent breeding ground for bacteria. During times of increased hormone production, the formation of acne may be faster but it never really ceases. A person may experience blackouts throughout their lives.

Stop using oil based makeup and hair products.
- Many cosmetics and hair products contain a lot of oil and can cause pores to become clogged up, thus spreading the acne. Rather than using these products, shop for hypo-allergic or non-acnegenic products.

Avoid harsh acne scrubs and facial soaps.
- There are a variety of acne scrubs and products on the market that claim to help acne. While this is to some extent true as they do clean away oils and dead skin cells, harsh acne scrubs can irritate your skin, damage your sebaceous glands and cause your acne to spread as more pores become inflamed. Rather keep your face clean of oils and skin cells by washing gently with a mild soap twice a day.

Do not poke, squeeze, or even touch pimples with your fingers.
- Many people tend to squeeze out their pimples with their fingers to try get rid of the blemishes faster. This is not a good idea, as fingers are covered with oils and bacteria that will only cause more acne. Also, it is possible to damage your sebaceous glands.

Visit a dermatologist
- Don"t just use any acne product because the label claims that it is recommended by dermatologists. Instead, if you have bad acne and it is bothering you, go visit a dermatologist and ask them to recommend a treatment that is suitable for your skin.

Use oral contraceptives to treat your acne
- If you are a woman, it is possible that oral contraceptives (birth control pills) may control your acne. These pills do so by regulating the amount of a specific hormone "" androgen "" in your body. Androgen is a male sex hormone, that increases the size of the sebaceous gland, and thus the amount of sebum the glands produce.
