Get Motivated And Set Your Goals Now!

By:

It happens to all of us at one point or another in our life. Whether you are a college student struggling to score a perfect report card, a musician who aspires to land a major gig at a local venue, or just somebody who wants to do more in life, getting inspired and finding your motivation to succeed can prove to be a daunting and very difficult task. Achieving your goals is easier said than done, but it is possible, and forcing yourself out of that slump has its rewards.

First, evaluate what is going on in your life. Do you have too much on your plate at the moment? Do you feel you have too many responsibilities? Sometimes, the slump might be caused by having too much going on in your life at any one given moment, and you might need to re-evaluate your priorities to get your life in order. If you do have too much going on, then focus on one thing at a time. If you are a student, a working mom, or someone who already has a lot on their plate, then you obviously will have your basic set of responsibilities and then you will want to focus on one goal at a time until you achieve it.

Especially if you have a lot going on already, you might want to start small. Start with a small goal so that you don't overwhelm yourself because if you do get overwhelmed, you might get very discouraged and not want to set any other goals. Doing a little bit at a time will build up your determination slowly but surely.

Once you have decided on what your goal is, think about it daily. As soon as you get up, think about the goal. The more you think about it, the more it will nag at you to get it done. If you need to, write it down on your refrigerator's dry erase magnetic board, on your bulletin board at work, on a sticky on your desk, on your phone, and on a piece of paper that you stuck to the door so that you can see it before you leave the house everyday. Likewise, you can tell a friend or relative about it to keep you accountable. By telling someone else, you will not feel obligated to yourself and the person you told to get it done.

Last, realize that everyone goes through a slump every now and then, and just because you are going through a tough time doesn't mean there is anything wrong with you. Having motivation constantly is not common, even if the person is a motivation and self-help guru.
