Get Motivated And Get Moving!

By:

Even the most motivated people in this world need a little push every now and then. Not everyone can stay positive and "productive" all of the time, and sometimes a little push is all they need to get moving and start working towards their goals. If you have found yourself in a bit of a slump lately, then all hope is not lost. Making simple plans, such as setting a goal and setting a plan or schedule of some sort, can alter the course you are heading and steer you in the right direction.

First, you need to determine if this slump you are in is a direct result of something else that happened in your life. Did a recent event cause this change? If so, was it sudden and unexpected? Whatever it is that caused this needs to be rectified, whether it involves a job loss, the ending of a relationship, or relocating to unfamiliar territory. Adjusting your outlook, moving on, or finding a better opportunity will no doubt take some work, but it will be worth it.

Set a goal and remind yourself of it everyday until you meet the goal. Set a deadline for when you must meet the goal, even if you are not the type of person who likes to commit to dates. Setting a deadline will only motivate you and push you to do it. If you must, write this goal on a dry-erase board or in your organizer, put the memo in your cell phone, or post a huge poster and hang it on your ceiling so it is the first thing you see when you wake in the morning. Do whatever it takes to get it done.

Find your inspiration and get excited about it. What is it that you want to do? Have you been thinking about learning the piano or the guitar? Or have you been thinking about making a blog about technical gadgets and gizmos? Don't just think about it anymore. Act on it, make it a reality, and get excited about taking on this new venture. It may be hard for some to feel excited, especially since they're already in a slump. The best thing to do is to find out more information about it and build up your desire towards it. If you want to play an instrument, find some homemade videos and get inspired.

Throughout this whole process, you will want to remain as positive as possible. Whatever it is that you try to do, it might not always work out the first time, or the second time, or the third time. The key is to not give up but to keep on going and keep trying until you achieve your goal. Start small and work your way from there. Once you achieve your goal, you will be proud that you were able to accomplish it and happy that you pulled yourself out of that slump.
