Get Into Gardening And Discover Plants

By:

Gardening is a very popular activity, especially during the spring and summer months. Many people enjoy the idea of being simultaneously outdoors, close to their homes, and engaging in a quiet, simple task. Working in the yard is often considered to be a relaxing and even introspective pursuit, able to bring peace and tranquility.

Many people find something wonderful and important about tending to new life. Flowers and plants grow stronger by the day. Strong connections can be felt in this process. The flora grows and responds in direct relation to the attention given it.

The discovery that plant life may demonstrate the same sort of galvanic responses as human beings do was accidentally stumbled upon in the nineteen seventies by a polygraph technician named Cleve Backster. His research, coupled with similar research from interested scientific institutions, ultimately proved interesting though inconclusive.

This line of scientific inquiry was the result of Backster's interest in an Indian man's work. The idea that plants and animals could communicate with each other was the assertion of Bengali botanist and physicist Jagadish Chandra Bose. A popular book, The Secret Life Of Plants, was inspired by Backster's continuation of Bose's work, albeit under the American's own understanding of biophysics.

It is an especially interesting thought for science that flora and fauna might communicate on an emotional level. The question as to whether or not emotional states can be projected into the real world is one of the immediate concerns for science. Perhaps it is so that human beings are somehow influenced by plants and flowers, and not in the obvious way.

Many people really enjoy working gently in their flower beds, regardless of whether a deep, mystical connection exists between them and their plants. Perhaps they enjoy caring for something that doesn't demand things loudly. There is also a sense of accomplishment in the steady growth and new leaves.

People can be resistant to the idea of going outside. Certainly the summer months can be replete with humid, hot days when being inside with the the air conditioner seems like the better choice. Sometimes a little bit of gardening, even on these days, is all it takes to make people feel better, happier, and more peaceful. With such a huge range of things to grow, people are unlikely to be disappointed. Fruit trees, vegetables, or even a lush front lawn are all perfectly acceptable options.

Take time to enjoy all aspects of gardening and the results will show.
