1. Talk to Someone:

Most freelancers say that they get their best clients through referrals. So don't be afraid to talk about your business to anyone you come across including friends, family, neighbors and sales clerks.

2. Advertise on Craigslist:

Many freelancers have found that using Craigslist is a great way to find clients. People will contact you through the site and you don't have to list your phone number online unless you want to. Placing an ad on Craigslist is free in most places.

3. Use a Forum:

Find an online forum that is in the same category as the type of businesses you are targeting for your bookkeeping business. For example, if you are looking for plumbers, find a forum that plumbers like to hang out in. Make helpful posts without promoting yourself, as this could get you banned from the forum. You can however, add a signature to your profile promoting your bookkeeping business if the forum allows it.

Creating a Squidoo lens is very quick and also can get you listed in Google just a fast. You'll need to use good keywords though, such as "your city name + bookkeepers" so that people can find you in the search engines.
