Gestetner Dsm-616 - Sluggish, 16 Ppm Network Copy Machinenetwork

Though the Gestetner DSm-616 operates at an incredibly low 16 page per minute copy speed, its affordable price and robust specifications make it an option for businesses that require a lot of output, but not necessarily in a timely matter. With a handful of hardware accessories, the DSm-616 is also fully customizable, making for a very versatile piece of machinery that could potentially suit a small office well.

If speed is a must, look to the Gestetner DSm-616s sister units, the Gestetner DSm-620 or the Gestetner DSm-620d that operate at 20 and 21 pages per minute respectively. If, in the interest of cutting down on overhead, the 616 seems like the best option, you wont be disappointed with its extensive list of high quality and user friendly functions.

A total curb weight of 78 pounds and dimensions of 21.65" x 22.36" x 16.54" (W x D x H) mean that the Gestetner DSm-616 is by no means petite, and certainly does not qualify as a home office device, yet, it only offers a very limited paper storage capacity with only a single 250 tray. Considering that units half its size often provide twice the storage space, you might, again, want to consider upgrading to the 620 or 620d units which come with two 250 sheet trays instead of one.

If youre still convinced that the Gestetner DSm-616 is the right model for you, then consider the optional paper handling add ons including a single 500 sheet capacity tray, a dual 500 sheet paper bank, and also a one bin, 100 sheet tray. Other additional hardware worth considering is the 30 sheet standard automatic document feeder, or the 50 sheet automatic reversing document feeder that can automatically flip input devices for two sided copying. Unfortunately, only the Gestetner DSm-620d comes equipped with a duplexor, so when using the ARDF with the Gestetner DSm-616, double sided input will become single sided output.

As a copy machine, the Gestetner DSm-616 comes surprisingly loaded with a long list of convenient features including auto paper select, auto reduce, auto enlarge, auto image density, auto start, and even automatic tray switching when additional trays are incorporated into the overall hardware. Image rotations and scan once, print many tools allow users to rotate and adjust image placement, maximizing paper coverage, and then print the outcome a virtually limitless amount of times.

The printer itself is not without a set of features which include envelope printing and custom watermark printing that adds a unique and professional look to your work. Auto tray switching and selection are also incorporated when applicable, and, with sizes supported up to 11 x 17 inches, oversized printed pages and copies are not a problem.

Scanning runs at quality levels ranging from 100 dots per inch up to 600 dots per inch in resolution for optical scans, and can also scan to e mail and duplex scan when the ARDF is in use. With network connectivity as well, the Gestetner DSm-616 stands out as a slower device with all the powerful features of higher end units.
