Gdas Rapid Io (grio) Ip For Higher Scalability And Performance

By:

RapidIO technology is a fast growing interconnect standard designed to meet the growing needs of the embedded computing specifically for developers of wireless infrastructure, edge networking, storage, scientific, military and industrial equipment. Apart from embedded computing, it can be used in telecommunication, networking and any other application where high speed, low latency response, low pin counts, reliability and scalability are necessary.

GDA Technologies, Inc. is the undisputed leader in Rapid IO IP solutions. Some of the worlds largest OEM companies incorporate GDAs Rapid IO in their technology solutions. GRIO IP is available for both serial and parallel interfaces. GRIO provides flexible AXI based interface on the User interface. Third generation AMBA (AXI) interface allows seamless integration of GDAs RapidIO core into customers SoC incorporating RapidIO technology.

GRIO provides increased performance, improved efficiency and is cost effective as well. The simple, configurable and layered architecture of the GRIO IP is independent of applications, PHY designs, implementation tools and, most importantly, the target technology.

Another unique feature of GRIO IP is that it supports both PIO (Programmable Input Output) and Data Messaging modes of RapidIO technology. For PIO mode it supports all RapidIO transaction types (NREAD, NWRITE, NWRITE_R, SWRITE etc.) which specify specific address within targeted device as part of RapidIO packet. For Data Messaging there is no specific addressing within the target device, however specific pointers to Mailboxes within the device are defined. GRIO IP also provides configurable DMA Engines to move data from local memory to RapidiO fabric and vice-versa relieving local processor to handle other performance sensitive tasks. Both DMA and DME are descriptor based high performance Engines to additionally enhance overall performance of the SoC.

But with the new GRIO IP technology one gets best-in-class features in performance, scalability and reliability, which are fundamental requirements for connectivity in high-speed applications.
