Garmin Welcomes New Forerunners: 410 And 210

By:

Joggers and runners - on your mark! We now have two new releases from Garmin designed for both the novice and expert runners alike. The two new Forerunner models, 410 and 210 have both bridged the gap between functionality and price. While some of the more superfluous features have been omitted, other features commonly requested by Forerunner users have been integrated.

Recently introduced is the 410 model, a completely new and superior variation of the Garmin 405, with a superior chest strap heart rate monitor. It has an enhanced touch bezel that's guaranteed to work even in the rainy and sweaty conditions that often go along with outdoor running. Also included is, updated software and approximately 7.5 hours of operation in complete GPS function mode. Workout data is wirelessly uploaded to a PC via the included USB receiver, and can automatically be transferred to Garmin's Connect web portal. An added benefit is the fact that its completely suitable for either Windows operating systems or even Intel-centered Macintosh running OS 10.4.11 or later versions accompanied by Safari. The 410 also includes a navigation mode that routes you from one location to the next, which is a handy feature for finding your way back home, or further on down the trail. A favorite feature is the Auto Pause, which you will really appreciate when a stoplight gets in the way of your routine.

Garmin's new Forerunner 210 follows on the heels of the 110 and focuses on ease of use. It is designed for runners who want to simply step outside and start their workout. Unlike previous models of years gone by, you don't need a PHD in GPS watch programming to be able to enjoy it. Just acquire satellites, push start and you are off. Also, because of the foot pod compatibility, runners training indoors in the winter can have their need to measure speed and distance fully satisfied. The foot pod also effectively tracks cadence. The 210 displays real-time workout data, such as pace, distance, and time. Heart rate alerts can be configured to notify you if you're workout is too hard or too soft.

To be clear, there are two versions of the Forerunner 210 and the first has a regular chest strap and USB data transfer. While the second version, called the club version, features Garmin's premium soft strap chest strap and adds the foot pod for indoor use for an extra $50. Not too bad.
