Fun Christmas Dinner Table Games

Fun Christmas dinner table games can become a tradition in your family. Christmas trivia is a great game to start with. Gather questions and answers about all aspects of Christmas. Consider the origin of the traditions and all the customs both old and new. Questions reguarding the secular and religious parts of the Chirstmas holiday. Ask questions about popular Christmas carols and stories. Christmas plays, movies and TV shows make good trivia subjects. Make it fun, entertaining and even educational. Let the person who answered the last question correctly draw a quest from a Christmas box and ask the next question. If you really want to kick it up a notch, give Christmas party favors for each correct answer.

Games like "Think Fast make fun Christmas table games. You may have seen the Minister's Cat game in a Christmas movie or too. It is a Christmas game from Victorian England and it is as much fun now as it was back then. You start by clapping your hands to get a steady rhythm going for the game. This is a good time keeping device too, as each player should have their answer within a certain number of claps, probably six or seven. Then you start describing the minister's cat using each letter of the alphabet starting with "A". The first person says " The minister's cat is a (any adjective beginning with "A") cat". For example, "The minister's cat is an able cat". The next person would need an adjective that starts with a "B". The minister's cat is a busy cat". The next could say, "The minister's cat is a cute cat." Go from guest to guest each taking the next alphabet. If they can't think of one in about six or seven seconds (measured by the hand claps) they are out of the game.

Games like Memory are always fun to play at the Christmas table. One good memory game is called "Under My Christmas Tree." The first person starts by saying' "Under my Christmas tree there is a (fill in the blank with anything that starts with the first letter of the alphabet). The next person has to fill in that blank with something that starts with the next letter of the alphabet, but then they have to remember and say what the first person said, too. So if the first person says, "Under my Christmas tree there is an archery set." The second person would say, "Under my Christmas tree there is a baby doll and an archery set. " The third person would say, "Under my Christmas tree there are a computer, baby doll and archery set." It gets interesting after seven or eight things have been named. To stay in the game the person must think of something that starts with the next letter and remember all the ones that came before them.
