Fruit Smoothie Recipes - Why Homemade Is Better

By:

Fruit smoothie recipes are the drink that people would rather have nowadays because their great taste, excellent nutritional content, the simplicity of making them and also due to it being easier to get kids to consume their fruit and vegatables. A fruit smoothie recipe is a simple way for getting the recommended daily allowance of these fruits and vegetables.

What does a smoothie consist of? They are a blend of fruit and vegetables and contain pretty much anything you want. They can consist of any type of fruit ranging from apples to pineapples and from berries to kiwis. Also, any type of vegetable can also be included, from cucumber to avocado and from carrots to broccoli. The right combination will always taste great. Don't be put off by the unusual combinations that you will come across. Some of the stranger one can taste very good and are very good for you.

Try juicing two apples, cucumber (whatever suits your fancy but up to a few inches should be fine) and a bit of celery, approximately half a stick. After juicing put into a blender with one avocado (stone and skin removed), a few ice cubes and blend. I'd be surprised if you didn't like the taste.

More and more people are discovering the health benefits of freshly made juices and smoothies every day. Freshly made juices and smoothies are better for you than the smoothies you will see on the shop shelf because they retain the highest level of nutrients, which the body can digest readily.

Raw juices and smoothies are better because the smoothies sold in the shops have to go through heat treatment processes in order for them to keep their long shelf lives. They are still good for you, just not as good as the homemade juices. When making homemade juices, you should drink them within 15 or 20 minutes so that you get the full nutritional benefits. This is because vitamins lose their benefits when exposed to light and air.

Fresh juices and smoothies are also abundant in enzymes responsible for the digestion and absorption of food into the body. Juicing fruit and vegetables can also help absorption of all the goodness because the body finds it easier to do this, when comparing, for example, carrot juice to whole carrot.

Juices and fruit smoothie recipes, as well as being easy drink recipes, have other benefits that include healthier skin and nails; healthier and stronger hair; assistance in weight loss; detoxifying the body; their anti-cancer properties; and much more.
