Friends, The Most Honest Sitcom

By:

According to many, the tv show friends which aired from 1994 to 2004 is one of the most easily recognizable and copied shows in recent years.

A show which initially went through many permutations, from "Insomnia Cafe" to "Friends Like Us" to eventually, simply, "Friends" a title which in the majority of the population brings up various jokes and phrases. This fame allowed the show, which was nominated for 63 Primetime Emmy Awards to continue flourishing even today, 6 years after its cancellation.

Originally a simple show about six complete strangers and their early life trying to make it in New York City, the show quickly grew to encompass more than a few laughs, but relationships were formed and by the end of its 10 year run, we all as the audience connected with the characters. Whether from personal experience or through the experiences of others, we had all felt the same feelings which were being portrayed through a member of the cast.

It is in part this connection to the characters which really made the show Friends. Had it not been for the full development of the characters, it would easily have just been another one of those sitcoms that come and go with the seasons. Instead it not only fostered a connection between the audience and the characters, but between the very characters themselves.

They can be quoted as saying after the Finale, that they had grown to be a family, as we can see even after between Aniston and Cox.

However to really get a feel for the show Friends, I recommend going through and watching all episodes from the very beginning, and then maybe you too will become a fanatic of one of the greatest sitcoms ever aired.
