Dan had been friends with Lisa for almost two years now, and during that time, he had kept a secret from her. He did not want to be just a friend, he wanted to be her boyfriend. He enjoyed the times that they hung out together, just the two of them. Sometimes it almost seemed like they were on a date, especially when they would meet up at their favorite restaurant for dinners on Friday nights.

A couple of times he had very casually brought up the subject of them dating, usually as a joke. And Lisa would always laugh it off, as if it were the funniest thing in the world to think that the two of them would ever be more than friends. He never said anything, but it absolutely crushed him when she would do that.

Having a female friend that you want to be more than friends with is not always a fun spot to be in. Sure, it is nice when you get to spend time with them and even pretend that there is something more going on, but it is a little disappointing when you have to come down and back to reality.

What Dan did not know was that he was not that far off by suggesting that he and Lisa could be a couple, in an almost joking manner. He would lose her though, because the minute she laughed it off... she knew that he was crushed by it. And the few minutes after that would turn awkward for her. Her mind would begin to associate the idea of dating him as being awkward... and that did nothing to boost his chances.

Had he been more laid back about it, then she might have begun to think about dating him as being easy, which is not a bad thing. However, he already made it seem like it would be awkward and that was enough to kill any possibility that they would be more than friends.

If you are in a situation where you want to be more than friends with a woman, then there are steps that you can take that will make it happen for you. Well, it does not always work 100 percent, but what does?
