Freemasons Secret Society What Secrets Lie Beneath

By:

The Freemasons Secret Society or Freemasonry or Masonry, is one of the earliest fraternal organizations in the world. Although associated with secrecy and conspiracy in modern times, the Freemasons Secret Society was a group of architects and builders who were responsible for the design of many Gothic Cathedrals in the Middle Ages.

It is believed that the Freemasons were an example of the earliest entrepreneurs. They were free to roam the world looking for work. Therefore, it is believed that they kept their craft a secret in order to create a certain demand and aura around their work.

Thus, it may safely be said that in its original form, the Freemasons Secret Society was a group of men with particular moral values and beliefs. It is believed by many that the Freemasons did not practice Judaism or Christianity, but had inherited a Pagan spiritual tradition from Antiquity, which is closely allied with Gnosticism the religion many scholars today consider to be a the forerunner of Christianity. The Gnostic tradition is reflected in the Masonic symbol in which the symbol "G" stands both for Gnosticism as well as Geometry.

The free masons used geometry and architecture to form their interpretation of the cosmos. Their religious beliefs were steeped in science and practical life. Their works of creativity were the physical manifestations of their beliefs, as can be seen by the many amazing Gothic cathedrals they constructed, which seem to transcend the human imagination.

In order to establish an identity separate from existing religious and political groups (as symbolized by the Church and the Throne), Free masons met in mason lodges. The invitees were people who had been initiated into the trade and ideas were discussed behind closed doors.

By the end of the Middle Ages, the Free Masons Secret Society opened its doors to members outside the profession. However, although the "pedigree" (if it may be so called) was diluted, secrets were maintained and no one really broke into the secret codes and messages that have been built into the architecture of the Free Masons.
Due to the secrecy surrounding their activities and the number of powerful figures involved in the society, the Freemasons have been accused of conspiracy and so on. George Washington, Mark Twain, Winston Churchill and Edgar Hoover were some of the most famous members of the society.

It must be remembered that while they have been blamed by sections of society, the Free Masons Secret Society has contributed greatly to the development of democracy. Their views instilled a certain amount of philosophical freedom, which in turn led them to self-rule.

Thus, the Freemasonry society arose from a group of people involved in practical building and grew into an elite society which symbolized a new way of thought. Today, there is revived interest in the thoughts, codes, secret messages and world views shared by the Free Masons, which were built into the structures they created. However, interpreting these messages and codes is not easy. Hence the ongoing interest in the society.
