Freecell And Background Music

By:

Background music and leisure time activity are mutually compatible. I find myself comfortably tuning in to my favorite station while playing a card game I love called Freecell.

The Freecell solitaire card game is one of the most addictive card games in the world. First introduced in Windows 95, it's been a passion of millions the world over. There are now scores of websites that host their version of Freecell. One website that has grown an addicted fan-base is www.freecell.net created in 1996. The creator and designer of this website is Denny, a very funny guy with a great sense of humor. If you want to experience his sense of humor, see how he livens up the Freecell community with his bating questions on the discussion board. In fact, when you land on the front page of his website, you'll find his favorite quote: "...draining workplace productivity since 1996." I love it!

How many of us have found ourselves totally consumed by Freecell? I can testify that I am truly addicted. At freecell.net you can play anonymously. Your scores will not be stored but if you are a novice player, you have an opportunity to increase your skills and improve your game-play. Additionally, the site offers 72 variants of the game from 13 x 3 to 4 x 4. The original layout is 8 x 4.

The benefits of registering on the site: every game won and lost is recorded (unless you replay a game you just lost or you play anonymously). Freecell.net's record keeping shows Current, All Time, Daily, Weekly, Past Daily scores so you know the scores of all players current and retired.

I have one variant that I'm currently partial to. Playing the variant 13 x 0 is like playing chess. You must survey your card layout in advance and determine your best opening moves. This variant does not provide any freecells so all moves are either on other cards or straight to the Sometimes there's only one safe move. And, on rare occasions, there are none. Yes, 13 x 0 can be brutal at times but the fun is in mastering your way through the difficult ones- the ones where the percentage of players winning that game is low.

When the variant 13 x 0 is causing you mild stress, listening to the mellow sounds of electronic music may help reduce the stress. Although there are over 20 genres under the electronic umbrella, those that are closer the down-tempo style would a good choice while playing. There are thousands of artists creating great tracks waiting to tease and tantalize your ears so don't deprive yourself.

So, if you ever wondered what was the best music you should listen to while playing your favorite Freecell card game, choose Jazzy Lounge radio. Jazzy Lounge plays an eclectic mix of Lounge, Nu Jazz, Downtempo, House, Smooth Jazz, Chill Out, Dance, Dub, World and Electronica.
