Hence it is essential that you gain knowledge about different types of business fraud that will help you to deal with them effectively. Following are a list of business fraud that is prevalent worldwide.

- Contract fraud

Contracts are an agreement between two individuals, two companies or between an individual and a company. Whenever you have the need to sign a contract, do ensure that you read even the smallest of print and understand your standing in the contract, and how you stand to benefit or lose from a particular transaction. Contracts are the easiest to manipulate when the other person has limited knowledge. If required, seek legal help to understand the document before you sign it.

- Credit card fraud

Credit cards are used in most of business transactions, and are susceptible to business fraud taking place. Care should be taken while providing credit card details. It is better not to share your credit card information with anyone.

- Checks and currency fraud

According to statistics, thousands of checks are forged in the market. Business parties and individuals should have a good look at the checks issued to them, and ensure that they have the necessary background information about the person issuing the check.

- Real estate fraud

As the real estate business involves more money, it is prone to more fraud. When a person buys land or a property, they should ensure that all documents including the mother document are genuine and clear. Many cases have been reported where the same property has been sold to a number of buyers. It is better to opt for government-approved property, or to conduct your business through a firm of good repute.

- Internet online fraud

Credit cards and debit cards should be used carefully while transacting online. This is because there are many fraud and fake sites available, which are clones of the original but actually not run by the genuine company. This happens mostly on banking sites. The user is led to believe that they are using a genuine website. Passwords and other details are captured by these hackers and then used to siphon off money from the user's accounts.

- Scam mail fraud

This is among the latest in the list of fraud and many people have already fallen prey to it. In this category of fraud, the user receives an email about some special get rich quick offer or about winning a huge lottery, or sometimes seeking help in claiming an inheritance. Usually here the user is asked to deposit some money in order to claim the winnings. Once the deposit is made, the person on the other side disappears without a trace and the user is left holding onto empty promises of wealth.
