Four Signs That Indicate You Are Trapped In Wealth

By:

Many wealthy people, however they come into wealth, enjoy happy satisfying lives. Others do not. It's not unusual for authenticity and autonomy to be traded in for portfolio security. It's an empty, lonely, place from which to live. Its a life lived trapped in a gilded cage.

Here are 4 signs that you're trapped in wealth:

1. More is less.

The more financial security you have the less emotional security you feel. Everything looks even more spectacular from the outside, from the inside not so much. The more you have the more you worry about who you would be without your wealth. Do you merit any value as your open, vulnerable self, naked underneath the costume of money?

Key: Develop a sense of self-worth that matches your net-worth.

2. Feeling isolated or disconnected.

Do you feel different from other people in a way that makes you uncomfortable? Do you feel like you're 'on the outside looking in'? Do you feel out of touch with who you really are? Have you lost a sense of purpose? If your answer is yes to any of these questions its a sign you're trapped inside a false version of you - one that your relationship with your wealth plays a major role.

Key: Rediscover who you really are, your purpose and what makes your heart sing. Commit to engage on every level of your life in a way that fully expresses this truth - in your relationships and personal contribution.

3. Guilt or Shame.

Those who didn't personally earn their wealth sometimes feel guilt or shame over their unearned good fortune. They have what others desperately or fervently seek and did little or nothing to merit it. Guilt, and especially shame, around money can be paralyzing - keeping you trapped inside of an emotional box.

Key: Rediscover what you truly value. Increase this value through your personal investments of time and energy.

4. Powerlessness.

It is not uncommon for children and adults living in affluence to feel like their choices are restricted rather than enhanced by wealth. They feel trapped, as if their life story was written the day they were conceived if not before. To add insult to injury so much has been taken care of for them they feel they lack the skills rendering them even more powerless to direct their own life.

Key: Embrace personal responsibility and accountability in a way that empowers you to become a master at creating your opportunities instead of remaining a victim of your circumstance - trapped in a gilded cage.

You were not born to be trapped, overpowered by your wealth. You were give a gift of good fortune. Muster up your moxie to be powerfully real as you leverage your wealth create your own spectacular meaningful purposeful life. That's your key to fulfillment and joy.
